Trade Show Presence, Experiential Strategy
The Impact
Increased Leads
Increased Trade Show Engagement
Higher Trade Show ROI
The model served as a conversation catalyst, allowing RJ Watson’s team to engage more deeply with prospects by demonstrating the functionality and durability of their bearings in an accessible, memorable way. This hands-on experience not only elevated brand recognition but also strengthened prospects' confidence in RJ Watson’s expertise, ultimately helping to increase both immediate leads and long-term interest in the brand’s innovative products.
The Challenge
To increase attendee engagement and boost ROI at trade shows, bridge bearing manufacturer RJ Watson partnered with EPIC Promotionals to create a hands-on, interactive model that would showcase their bridge bearings in action. The challenge was to provide a scaled-down demonstration of their large industrial products in a way that trade show attendees could physically interact with, enhancing understanding and brand connection.
Insights
RJ Watson’s bridge bearings are large, complex products that are difficult to showcase in a trade show setting. The EPIC team identified that scaling down the bearings to an interactive tabletop model, complete with a motorized bridge, would allow attendees to see, touch, and experience how these products function. This approach also supported RJ Watson’s goal to educate potential customers on product quality and reliability in a memorable, engaging way.
The Concept
EPIC created a 14-inch motorized bridge model that demonstrated how RJ Watson’s bearings function during bridge movement. The design team modified CAD models of both the bridge and each of the four bearing components, using 3D printing to replicate every piece in exact detail. Additionally, key raw materials that enable the bearings’ functionality were incorporated to demonstrate real-life application. The model’s motor created a back-and-forth rocking motion, mimicking the bridge's movements during natural shifts, and showcasing how RJ Watson’s bearings support these forces.
The Experience
The model served as a tactile, interactive experience, allowing trade show attendees to physically engage with RJ Watson’s product in a way that would otherwise be impossible due to its large scale. Attendees could observe the bearings, understand their mechanics, and gain insight into their role in maintaining bridge stability. This interactive centerpiece became the focal point of RJ Watson’s booth, attracting interest, sparking conversations, and bringing added energy to the space.
