The Berlin Bee instilled a deep sense of community pride and connection to the town’s history. As residents and stakeholders displayed the bee replicas in their homes and offices, they became constant reminders of Berlin’s unique identity and legacy. The giveaway sparked conversations about the town’s mascot and anniversary, creating a lasting emotional connection between the community and the town’s brand.
The Challenge
For the anniversary celebration of Berlin, Connecticut, the town sought a way to celebrate its history and mascot, a bee, with a memorable and meaningful giveaway for residents and stakeholders. The goal was to create 200 unique bee models as a way to showcase Berlin's identity, spark pride, and engage the community while honoring the town’s mascot.
Insight
The bee has become a beloved symbol of Berlin, and the town wanted to bring that mascot to life in a way that resonated with residents. By creating 200 replica bees based on a three-foot metal art sculpture in the mayor’s office, the town aimed to create a tangible connection to its history, while fostering pride and unity among residents. The replicas would serve not only as a souvenir but also as a conversation starter to celebrate the town’s identity.
The Concept
EPIC Promotionals proposed creating a scaled-down replica of the town’s bee mascot as a giveaway item for the anniversary celebration. By designing a 5-inch version of the bee statue, we would replicate the intricate details of the original art piece, ensuring that the model would be both visually captivating and emblematic of Berlin’s history. The bee models would be distributed to residents and stakeholders as a reminder of the celebration and the community's shared pride.
The Experience
The process began with EPIC Promotionals receiving photographs of the original bee statue from every angle. Our design team used CAD modeling software to digitally recreate the statue and scale it down to 5 inches for 3D printing. The 200 bee replicas were 3D printed, surface-finished in metallic silver, and packaged for delivery. The final models were shipped to Axim Creative, the marketing firm working with Berlin, CT, ensuring that the giveaway items would be ready just in time for the event.
The bee replicas served as an interactive, tactile representation of Berlin's history and mascot, and they quickly became cherished tokens for residents. These replicas were not just mementos but sparks for conversation, reminding the community of their shared legacy and fostering a sense of pride in the town’s unique identity.
